Celica’s Quick Hypnobabies Birth Center Birth

“I shot out of bed at midnight to some pretty intense pressure waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions). I was under the impression that this was the very beginning of my birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor), so I tried to go back to sleep”

My baby is 3 months, but her birth story was so beautiful I still want to share it.

My fiancé and I decided to take one last camping trip of just the two of us. We stayed local just in case, but I didn’t feel like baby was coming anytime soon.

I had been feeling some tightening in my stomach, but it was hardly anything at all. We returned from our camping trip and spent the day relaxing (we are very busy people, and we never just relax). We knew she was coming at some point in the next couple weeks though, so we decided to end our weekend with a relaxing day at home. We went to bed early, expecting to get up for work in the morning. I fell asleep listening to Hypnobabies.

New mom standing outside holding her babyI shot out of bed at midnight to some pretty intense pressure waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions). I was under the impression that this was the very beginning of my birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor), so I tried to go back to sleep. It was pretty intense though, so I turned on Hypnobabies. My phone wasn’t working though, and nothing would load except class 4. So, this is what I listened to. It put me back to sleep, but I woke up again when the track ended. I was having some other birthing symptoms that woke my partner up. We hopped in the shower, and he asked if we should call the midwife. I told him no because I thought this was just the beginning, and we needed to try to get some sleep. So, I turned Hypnobabies back on.

I’m sure it was user error because looking back, I wasn’t in a full headspace, but I could only figure out how to turn class 4 audio tracks on. It was still so helpful and put me back in a trance. My pressure waves were just as intense as when they started, and I figured I should time them. They were 2 minutes apart, but I was still in denial. I told myself I just wasn’t timing them correctly. My sister went to the hospital way too early with her first, and I didn’t want to have the same experience.

It was about 4am now and I was in and out of bed, in and out of the shower, just trying to get comfortable. I finally texted my midwife and she asked if I could talk through the pressure waves, and I could, so she told me to try and get some rest.

I turned Hypnobabies back on and a couple more hours passed. I thought I just really needed to poop so I sat on the toilet for a bit. My water broke, but I knew that didn’t mean baby was coming immediately. I was mentally prepared for the pressure waves to get a lot stronger, and they were the same as when I first woke up, so I thought we had awhile.

At this point my partner called the midwife. She asked if we were sure my water broke and what color it was. He told her that I was on the toilet, and she said the baby was coming and we needed to meet her at the birth center ASAP.

We got to the birth center and gave birth to my baby within the hour. I actually thought I was going to give birth to her in the car. I had planned for a water birth, and it didn’t happen that way, but it was still amazing. I wouldn’t have been able to get through it without Hypnobabies though. The midwives think I actually first woke up in transition and slept through most of my birthing time.

Even though I had planned on doing a water birth, I also knew I wanted to spend as long as possible at home, and I did. Even though my phone wasn’t working to play the right tracks, all of the Hypnobabies tracks are so relaxing that it didn’t matter. Thank you Hypnobabies for giving me such a great experience.
