Fah La’s Fast, Easy Hypnobabies Birth
“It felt amazing to get through a wave during Transformation and think “I could handle that & more.”
Had my Hypnobabies birth on June 11th at 10:25pm! 8lbs 5oz, 21.25inches & honestly wouldn’t use the word “pain” to describe birthing time at all. It was intense but doable. The most challenging part was relaxing through the uncontrollable hormonal shaking (which i had before, during & after transformation).
Best part is the change in my plans, being GBS+, ended up positively effecting my birth instead of ruining it like I was worried about. Being able to do the hospital check in process early was awesome & made it more fun rather than signing all that paperwork when waves were stronger.
My doula and husband supported me so much with counterpressure, reassurance & other comfort measures. I listened to Easy Comfortable Childbirth the entire time through active stage on repeat until pushing baby out was turned on. I pushed for 2 hours but it felt like 30 minutes. (He came out with his hand by his face which made it take longer). The whole experience was so much different than I expected. The first pee after hurt more than the birth! And I barely had a 1st degree tear.
Honestly, I didn’t use Hypnobabies in the way I thought I would, but I know it still worked wonders because I remained so calm the whole time & using the word “Peace” (Hypnobabies Cue for instant physical comfort) helped, and when my husband said “Relax” (Hypnobabies Cue to deepen the level of hypnosis) it helped, too! The best was when the waves would match up perfectly with the Easy Comfortable Childbirth track.
It felt amazing to get through a wave during Transformation and think “I could handle that & more.” A little fear crept in when I knew it was time to push, it was odd feeling him descend that low & I got nervous. But my midwife reassured me everything I was feeling was normal & that everything was going perfectly. Vocalization was essential the entire time, especially deep guttural sounds when it came to pushing.
There were a few times throughout the birth where I remember feeling so tired of shaking that I wondered if I should just get the epidural & end it. But I never asked for it because I kept thinking let me just get through one more wave, and I didn’t want to hear people tell me “I told you so” about needing it. Truth was I didn’t need it! It went by so fast & if it weren’t for the shaking it would have felt even easier. I wonder how hard birth would have been without Hypnobabies! Now postpartum healing, breastfeeding and trying to feel normal again on the other hand is way harder than anything I did in pregnancy or childbirth.
