Reagan’s Second Hypnobabies Birth
This was my second birth and my second hypno-baby.
“My mom quickly took my headphones off and tried to play the Pushing Baby Out track on our speaker. The midwife lifted my leg and immediately saw Winslow’s head. I pushed one time, and my water broke, and her head was fully out, and with one last push her whole body was out”
Early birthing time (Hypnobabies term for labor) began around 6am on June 22nd. I enjoyed a quiet morning to myself, breakfast and a cup of coffee and just enjoyed what I knew were some of my last moments of a mom of one baby girl. I had consistent waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions), but they were very mild, and I was able to clean up the house, bake cookies, and enjoy a restful morning. My waves picked up around 4pm and I began having to internalize a bit more and vocalize through my waves. We ordered chick-fil-a for dinner and as soon as I was done eating, we headed to the hospital.
I was checked for dilation in triage, and I was 3cm along so my midwife had me walk around for 2 hours and then would recheck me after. During the 2 hours, I did squats, lunges, and walked almost the entire time while listening to my tracks. At about 8:30pm, my waves were beginning to feel very intense and were between 1-2minutes apart. I was having a lot of back pressure and was having a harder time getting my body to relax due to the back discomfort and lack of breaks in between waves. When I was checked again at 9:00, I had progressed to 4cm and was then admitted, however we found out that Winslow was sunny side up and this was what was causing my back discomfort.
We waited for a room for almost an hour and a half, and during that time, my waves were very intense. I felt I was in transformation (Hypnobabies term for transition) but wasn’t believing it due to being told I was only 4cm. We got to my room at 10:30pm and immediately my midwife helped me into the side lying release position from Spinning Babies that would allow Winslow to get into the correct position. I had to lay on each side for about 5 waves and that would hopefully cause her to turn. I started feeling deep pressure within minutes of laying on my left side. As soon as I turned on my right side, I felt the urge to push.
My mom quickly took my headphones off and tried to play the Pushing Baby Out track on our speaker. The midwife lifted my leg and immediately saw Winslow’s head. I pushed one time, and my water broke, and her head was fully out, and with one last push her whole body was out she was born at exactly 11:00pm and while it was incredibly fast and intense, it was beautiful. It is a testament that dilation means absolutely nothing when giving birth and to trust your body 100%.
I will forever remember this beautiful birth and am incredibly blessed to be a mama to 2 I will forever encourage using Hypnobabies for any mama to be!
