Sushma’s Healing Hypnobabies Hypnobirthing Home Birth
“My headphones charging died right then and I knew it was time to play my Pushing Baby Out track on out loud. Came back to the pool with intense pushing waves. My body took over and started pushing my baby.”
I just had my second Hypnobabies birth and my first home birth last Monday, June 17th.
I had been having irregular waves (Hypnobabies term for contractions) on 15th.
During a walk on the evening of the 16th, I could feel the waves picking up. Re-read the 4th and 5th chapters of Hypnobabies just to remind myself what to expect (I used to do this during my exams lol). Tried sleeping through the night, but the waves kept waking me up. Put my headphones for charging that night, since it did look like I would need them next day.
Started having consistent waves on the 17th morning and texted my midwife. Started listening to my Your Birthing Time Begins track (Hypnobabies reminder of all the tools and tracks for birthing) and followed it up by all the recommended hypnobirthing tracks.
I was using the exercise ball and my off switch (hypno-technique for entering and deepening hypnosis) every time there was a wave. It gave me instant comfort.
As the waves were getting closer my husband (along with my toddler) set up the pool and my midwife and her assistant who are both hypno-doulas, reached our home at 2pm.
They mentioned how peaceful I was through the waves and gave me all the space I needed. At times they would touch my shoulder and say the Release cue (Hypnobabies cue to instantly switch off) when they saw my shoulder was tensed and I would drop them instantly!
When the waves got closer, I got into the birthing pool. Spent a lot more time in the pool and it felt way more comfortable than I anticipated.
Changed some positions in between to open up the pelvis more.
It was still very comfortable 2 hours after getting in the pool and sipping electrolytes after every wave. At the end I slept through a couple of waves and my midwife mentioned it looked like rest and be grateful period. I could feel two waves during that, but I was the most comfortable I was that I didn’t even make a sound. I was listening to my Deepening Your Hypnosis track throughout. Right after the rest period, I felt the need to poop, and I just couldn’t do it in the pool. I didn’t poop that morning and that was a mental block for me, and I felt the baby is just waiting or being blocked by the poop lol.
My midwife suggested spending some time on the potty. The poop came out and instantly I felt my birth canal full. The assistant suggested I touch and see if I could feel my baby down there and I sure could! My headphones charging died right then and I knew it was time to play my Pushing Baby Out hypnosis track on out loud. Came back to the pool with intense pushing waves. My body took over and started pushing my baby. I felt it was too intense and wanted him out, so I did a conscious push on all fours. During the next wave my body pushed me up to a squat and he started crowning. Another wave and his head was born! He was born perfect at 7lbs 9 oz, 6PM.
My first Hypnobabies birth was in a hospital setting with an induction I didn’t need, but using Hypnobabies I conquered an epidural-free birth (felt like a warrior then) albeit with continuous monitoring/cervical checks and very intense fundal massage. That birth helped bring me my warrior princess to me and I am very thankful for the experience.
This experience, where I was given all the space, no one touched my vagina and trusted me fully was very healing and calming and everything I could ever dream of in a birth. It left me with a deep satisfaction and contentment.
